Privacy policy
Short version
SmartMacros has no account, no developer server and no analytics. The developer never receives your macros, your data rows, the pages you automate or anything you type. Nothing is sold or shared.
What is stored, and where
| Data | Where |
|---|---|
| Macros, data rows, run history, results, repair log, debug reports | Chrome local storage on your device |
| Settings, including an OpenRouter key if you add one | Chrome sync storage, which Chrome may sync to your own Google account |
| Passwords typed during a recording | Held only in memory for the browser session. They are not written into the saved macro. |
Remove the extension, or clear its data in Chrome, and all of it is deleted.
What can leave your device
Only the items below, and only when you switch the feature on or add such a step yourself.
- AI repair (optional). When enabled with your own OpenRouter key, a failing step, its recorded fingerprint and a page excerpt are sent to OpenRouter. Passwords, input values and long data attributes are removed first. Turn off "Send page text to the AI" to send only the fingerprint. OpenRouter's own privacy policy applies to that request.
- Webhook steps. A webhook step sends the values you choose to the address you typed into that step.
- Fonts. The extension's own pages load the Instrument Sans and IBM Plex Mono fonts from Google Fonts. That request carries no macro data.
Replaying a macro interacts with the websites you chose, exactly as if you had clicked and typed yourself. Those sites receive what the macro enters.
Permissions
SmartMacros asks for access to all sites because you decide which sites to automate. Its page scripts act only when you record or run a macro on a page, or set a trigger for it. Storage, tabs, scripting, side panel, navigation events, alarms and context menus are used for recording, replaying, scheduling and the right-click entries, and for nothing else.
This website
This site is static and sets no cookies. The theme choice is kept in your browser's local storage. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard request logs, and loads fonts from Google Fonts.
